Friday Frenzy: BFA

Today I am DEFINITELY in a HUGE FRENZY.

Yesterday I received my acceptance letter to the BFA Photography program at Brigham Young University. That meant a late Easter Lindt chocolate bunny and a little bacon cheeseburger ALL TOPPINGS at Five Guys (because nothing else was open at 9:30PM here in Provo, UT) for celebration and all the emoji I could put on Instagram (follow me @cmyrrha).

In case you are wondering, I was already a BA photo major at BYU, but this means I get to take an extra years of advanced photography classes and work on personal photography projects. PLUS I get access and priority to photo equipment and the studio.

When I first decided to be a photo major, I turned in 10 of my best images. Somehow they were impressive enough that the professors saw some potential in me. In case you are wondering, these are the images I turned 1.5 years ago for the BA:

Yeeeep. Similarly, ever since I got in the BA (Bachelor of Arts) I've been working on finding myself in terms of what I want (and like) to photograph, what my style is, and where I want to take all of this. A handful of photography classes, 100+ hours later (including dozens of hours in each image--it's incredible how much time I can spend on a SINGLE photo) and session after session of self-criticism, I applied to the Bachelor of Fine Arts. This is the portfolio I sent in in a beautiful black leather case (note: it's SOOO much more of a wholesome experience when you are actually flipping pages between the true archival prints I made myself):

See the difference? See the growth? Just a little bit. Let's see what it will look like a year from now, and then tell me what you think.

I'm extremely satisfied that I was able to prove myself that I can do this. I needed this validation. What the future holds for me? I have a few things in mind, so we'll see what happens next. ;)
