{Custodian} Between the Lines

Of all the jobs that deserve an honorable mention, custodians are first on my list. They wake up (too) early in the morning, or go to bed (too) late at night. I was never a custodian (though it had always been a job position I'd someday venture having--just for the fun of it!). But I know a few that blow my mind whenever they tell me about their schedules and exciting (many times gross) late-night cleaning stories.

My roommate is one of those people. Poor girl: when I had already been in bed for a while, there she was, coming in at 2am for a 2-hour nap. Yes. She would come back from her late-night shift only to take a TWO-HOUR NAP and at 5am start doing her ECON110 homework. Her sleep was all messed up (at least to me): only naps, and maybe, occasionally on weekends, a very long "sleep-in" mode. I admire her greatly for having survived her Econ class with an A grade AND STILL hold that night custodial job...at the Richards Building (for those who don't know, it's the sports building--with cougar sweat all over the place)!

Besides admiring custodians, I thank them for what they do and for keeping campus a clean and happy place!

And of course, I thank this girl who so naturally posed for my frames, as she swept the brightly-lit JSB stairs:

Love,

C=
