Brazil in Film

After exclusively using black and white film and developing them myself in the darkroom (too many to scan all at once!), I decided to try some color film. I shot with the classic Pentax Spotmatic camera and used Portra 400 film. I've been dying to see these processed and scanned, and finally here they are...with a few tips on where to go and what to do while in Rio de Janeiro. ;)

If you're ever in the state of Rio, don't miss the boat tour around the most secluded, paradisiacal beach spots in the world. Most only accessible by boat, the following is called Praia do Forno, RJ, and it's the last of the tour, and the "most populated" of them all (aka: food stands, tiny restaurants). Don't miss the short path uphill (for hikers and non-hikers) for the breathtaking view!

Praia do Forte, Cabo Frio, RJ: clear blue sky, clear blue water, and a plethora of delicacies for those who love snacking by the seashore after a walk or a refreshing swim.
I often forget my home country has had a monarchy. This next one is in the Museu Imperial, in Petropolis, RJ. Up in the sierra, it used to be the vacation spot for the Brazilian royal family. If you're into history, crowns, jewels and often wonder what your life would be like in the 1800s, this museum is for you!
Last but not least, a few details from Parque das Ruinas (awesome 360 ° view of the city) , in the charming Santa Teresa neighborhood (home of the artists and intellectuals) in Rio de Janeiro:
